- I am the Business Manager of The Rockets (wanna hire a band?), play keyboards, and am co-lead singer.
- I own 4 different keyboards, but use 2 on stage: the 88-key Alesis QS 8.2 and the 61-key Alesis QS 6.1. My backups are an Alesis 7.0 series board and a Yamaha something.
- My favorite bands or musical artists are: The Beatles, Earth Wind & Fire, and Billy Preston.
- My first gig was when I was paid to play piano at a physician’s home for a “Yacht Club” cocktail party. Prior to that, while I was in college, I was paid in adult beverages while playing for a lot of parties with my fraternity, Sigma Chi.
- I am a native of Newport, Arkansas (class of 1978), and am the youngest member of The Rockets. I am a graduate of both the University of Arkansas Fayetteville (B.A.) and UALR (M.P.A.). I have been married to a beautiful lady (Shellie) from Russellville since 1997. Shellie is a managing partner of the Wilson & Associates Law Firm. No children (that I am aware of).
- We have 2 dogs and 2 cats: Tiffy (a Spitz), Tess (a Keeshond), Dagney and Sophie (Tabbies, I think).
- In "real life," I have been with Baptist Health since 1988 (Physician Recruitment).
- My favorite food is anything Shellie cooks. My favorite drink is a good Merlot.
- Something most people don’t know about me: I signed my first contract at age 10! I supplied 25 turtles a week to the Sterling Discount Store in Newport.
- The most interesting people I have met: Politics: Bill Clinton; Sports: Willie Mays, Julius Dr. J Erving, Charles Barkley; Music: Billy Preston, Phillip Bailey, Verdine White.
- While I can’t claim to having played onstage with any noteworthy musicians, a friend and I once sat onstage during a performance of Earth Wind & Fire (they thought we were part of the arena staff).
- My favorite color is blue.
- My favorite comedians are Dave Chapelle and Richard Pryor.
- Personal note: I am one of 2 remaining original members of (Johnny Roberts &) The Rockets (along with Jim Johnson); the original group was together from 1995 'til 1999. With a couple exceptions, the existing lineup of The Rockets has been together since 2000, and it has been a treat to play with so talented a group.
