- My nickname is “Buck.”
- My instruments are: Rhythm guitar, a little blues harp, and percussion. I sing a little, but do not consider myself a singer.
- My instruments include a custom made Carvin and a Strat. I am searching eBay for a Paul Reed Smith. Since a man can only have one wife, he should have lots of guitars!
- My favorite bands or musical artists are: The Beatles, The Byrds, and The Rolling Stones.
- My favorite single musician was Chet Atkins, probably the best guitar picker ever. When I was 17, I was vice president of the Chet Atkins Fan Club. There were...20 members. He once took us backstage at The Opry where I met a very drunk Hank Williams.
- My wife is a beautiful Batesville girl named Kathy, who encourages my music and my art. We have two grown sons who live in Tokyo and Arizona.
- In “real life,” I am retired senior VP and co-founder of Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods ad agency. After retirement I began “serious” painting, and have developed a market for my art (which can be seen at http://www.yessy.com/jimjohnson/gallery.aspx) (wanna buy some art?).
- My favorite foods and beverages are: Kathy’s pot roast and vodka tonics.
- Most people don’t know that: While I was a student at the University of Arkansas, I played in a folk group (this was before the birth of rock and roll). After college, I worked at Hallmark Cards doing the funny ones. I’ve played in about 6 bands, but the Rockets are by far the best.
- My favorite color is yellow.
- An interesting personal note: in 1987, I took an acoustic guitar to the North Face base camp of Mount Everest. I was part of a support team for 5 weeks. I own the high altitude record for picking “Wildwood Flower.” Even Chet couldn’t top that.
